Stayed in the Family room conjoined rooms, |Master had large cracks in sink and damp patches on ceiling.|Twin room and master room both had windows which open fully (not child friendly)|Breakfast service was slow and staff were not atentive …
A group of us went for dinner. Honestly, it was very average. I had the Hunters Chicken… the smallest chicken breast and it had been chucked under the grill and was partly burnt. The other meals were okay and we all agreed that they were all a bit underwhelming. For such a beautiful place, the quality of the food needs to be bumped up a notch. The service was good though, a redeeming factor.
I'll start with the best thing - the staff. I had the warmest welcome by such a friendly woman on reception. She was smiley, polite, chatty and helpful.
Secondly, I went down and asked another member of staff at 11pm if I could move rooms due to some other guests being noisy and banging doors in the corridor. She was very apologetic and found me another room in a quieter part of the hotel without issue. I was very pleased with how this situation was handled and would 1000% return again just for the staff/service alone.
On the note of the banging doors, I do think that perhaps some changes could be made to make the room doors smoother/easier to close so that they don't bang as loudly. It's an old hotel too so creaky floorboards along the corridor may not be ideal for very light sleepers (like myself). I don't know how possible it would be, but better soundproofing of the rooms would really make this hotel the ideal place to stay for a sound night's sleep. I did sleep so much better once I had moved to the Stable block (quieter part). Apologies to any other guests who I may have disturbed in the process of moving rooms, I did try to do so quietly.
The rooms are comfy and cosy. Super soft and clean carpets that are very well looked after. Both rooms all over were just spotless. Everything I needed in the room. Lovely bathrooms in both with nice heated towel rails and plenty of towels. Great power showers. My first room was just perfect - could not have asked for better. Very roomy, nice king-sized bed, huge bathroom. The second just lacked a bit of attention to detail and was a little dated, but fully functional for all intents and purposes. Given that it was a bit of a 'downgrade' in some respects, I do feel it may have been nice to have been offered a little bit of a refund. Nevertheless, it was my choice to move rooms and I am very grateful for the fact that I could.
Quiet, convenient location - very close to town. The only thing I will say is that as a non-local it felt a little scary/unsafe walking alone there in the dark. Not the fault of the hotel though.
Great night at our Christmas party there recently. My only small criticism is they closed the 2nd bar for a period of time which meant everyone was trying to get drink from 1 bar so there was a bit of a wait.... But overall food was good and a good atmosphere
By far the worst place I have ever stayed. The room was extremely cold, no central heating. To my horror I had to use a fan heater which will just randomly switch off. This did not do justice to my chest, as I was breathing dry air. The beds were very uncomfortable, the room had a funny smell. I would never recommend this place. They need to refurbish the whole building and put in proper decent heating. The only positive thing was the location. Having such a great location one would expect good service.
Went for lunch. Waited an hour for our food, when it arrived it was small portions on a large plate! The smallest onion rings ever and just two! My burger bun was cremated. Only reasonable meal was mother in laws scampi & chips although by the time the meal arrived she was almost asleep. Don’t think I’ll be returning
Our wedding at The Manor Hotel was truly amazing. Matt Palmer is exceptional at his job and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for him. |Everything was superb and we can't fault a single thing about the day or the planning process. Matt …
The rooms need abit of a spruce up but it was clean and comfortable with the usual teas and coffees available.
Staff were more than helpful and friendly!
Dinner was delicious as was breakfast, both with a great choice.
We had a table booked for dinner but after a tiring day out we decided against it. Being a very busy Friday night room service was unavailable however we were given the option to collect ourselves if we wished so we went down to the bar, ordered food and took it to our room which we were more than happy to do.
The rooms are set away from the bar - close enough to wander over to but far enough to not hear revellers which was perfect!
Overall, lovely little hotel I'd recommend to stay in
